shoulda put a ring on it...

Just so very slightly obsessed with this Cartier Panthere ring as featured on Haute Couturista Street Style. Price available upon request according to Cartier's website so I'm not even going to begin to think about what it might set back a mere mortal such as myself. Strangely considering I have an entire custom drawer in my wardrobe dedicated to housing my jewellery collection, I've not really been much in the mood for baubles recently. But I do like the idea of accessorising a minimal outfit with one showstopping piece and this pretty kitty is ticking all of my boxes right now.

what hue looking at?

A friend remarked that I had rather a lot (read 99%) of black in my wardrobe whilst I was flipping through it the other day to show her a new purchase. She's right, only really in the height of summer do I err from my uniform of mostly black teamed with with coloured or patterned accessories or perhaps the odd piece here or there in a different but usually neutral colour. It's the habit of a lifetime which I've seldom diverted from but perhaps its time to make some changes. I gather neon's making it big in coming seasons and whilst I doubt I'm ready to sport anything fluro, I'm going to make a concerted effort to get a bit more colour into my wardrobe. We're getting to that really depressing bit of winter now where everything feels lifeless and washed in dull grey, you wait endlessly for any sign of spring and sprint outdoors anytime the sun makes a brief appearance. Maybe I should lighten up a little whilst waiting for spring and encourage a little more colour into my life.

deco lust

Happy New Year! Hows about a little bit of interior decor porn to start off the new year?

Utterly in love with the light, the floors, the monochromatic scheme and quirky features in these images although I'm slightly woeful about the fact that I barely scratched the surface of the endless list of jobs I have to improve my own little abode over the holidays. Never mind, I'll pretend this is my flat instead!

beautiful plumes

I'm on a bit of an enforced shopping diet at the moment so not really paying too much attention to what's in the sales other than some household stuff which desperately need replacing (discovered a spring  poking out of my dad's mattress the other day!).

But but, but.. look how pretty these plates from Anthropoligie are. Usually I'm a stickler for unfussy, plain white china when it comes to dinner plates and then I have a collection of pretty mismatched small side plates used for snacks and things - I'm a bit smitten with the handsome bird on the smaller side plate (right hand picture) and  sorely tempted to pick up a couple to add to my mismatched collection - they are on sale after all...

baubles

Hope everyone's having fun however you're spending the day. Although we don't celebrate Christmas traditionally at home it's my father's birthday today so there will still be presents, too much food and a touch of sparkle around the house. Cheers!

an xmas ritual

I have a little Christmas tradition with one of my best friends, instead of trading gifts each year we set aside a day to spend together hanging out, eating, drinking, window shopping (OK maybe a bit of actual shopping too) and generally gadding about town being silly. Life has been busy and stressful for both of us recently and we haven't been able to see much of each other at all so it was really restorative to spend a decent amount of time together. Emails and phone conversations just aren't the same as some proper face time with your best mate right?

Of course adding tea, cakes and cocktails to the equation always help things along nicely too. If you live in London or are planning to visit I'd recommend stopping by Bob Bob Ricard if only for a drink to marvel at it's rather fabulous 30s inspired interior. You can't help but feel glamorous tucked into one its booths, trying hard to stop yourself from repeatedly jabbing at the button labeled 'press for champagne' (We failed - it was fun). It is a bit spendy, but in my opinion well worth the odd visit as a treat. As well as the aforementioned bubbles on demand they serve delicious apple martinis which taste like spiced apple pie and are divine.

words + birds

Loving this print from oddly named illustrator Lunchbreath on etsy. In fact I love a lot what's in his (I think its a he?!) shop.

Think I may need to work on widening my vocabulary as I've just started playing the Scrabble game Words with Friends on my iPhone and sadly I think my brain has started to atrophy as I'm terrible at it. Impatiently using the first word that comes to mind rather than considered, tactical play leads to regular beatings I'm afraid.

Please may I have this hat?

Santa are you listening?
