lusting after H&M home

Image
Why oh why isn't H&M home available in the UK? ( just as well really, or I would have bankrupted myself on frilly cushions and leopard print towels by now !) Loving the way these linens and accessories have been styled by Swedish stylist and set decorator Sasa Antic . I'm besotted with the top image, a glamorous bedroom in a barn! Just lovely.

a few places to go in berlin...

Image
...for people who don't like sightseeing. Clarchens Ballhaus on Auguststrasse  in the Mitte area. A fabulous old building full of faded glamour and quirky touches which has been hosting dances since 1913. If you're brave you could try out a tango or swing lesson in the evening, alternatively laze around in the rose filled gardens and lunch on amazing pizza and salads accompanied with a bottle of Berliner beer, or turn up on Sunday for a sumptuous brunch in the sun. You might get adopted by a portly old waiter with a sparkle in his eye and marvellously waxed handlebar moustache.....just saying. Have a poke about in Design Panoptikum on Torstrasse in Mitte . It's as much a curiosities shop as a vintage design paradise. Full of amazing modernist furniture, chandeliers and lamps, old signs, typewriters, candelabras, old fashioned telephones, rare east and west German designed products. R eally the list's endless, and the place is mind blowing. Although some parts of

via FGR Sorry for the temporary disruption to service at ephemerette but I've been h aring around trying to get it together to finally leave the country for a couple of days, I'm off to B erlin  tomorrow for a short break so normal service shall resume next week. In the mean time some links.. * Read about some gorgeous sounding scent and be transported away with dreamy pictures from lola is beauty * Watch a vintage interview with A udrey H epburn over at the neo traditionalist * Why not take a visit to the fashion zoo at little doodles? * Or try some delicious Vietnamese recipes from fernandez & leluu Also I wanted to give a little shout out to Erin from Dropped Stitches who very kindly passed on a V ersatile Blogger Award to me - having written less than 100 posts I can't begin to explain how lovely it feels to be developing a little readership, leave alone be given an award, I'm incredibly flattered and will do a little post with 7 random things abou

{rose+gold+black} weekend topshop buys

Image
I braved the depths of the behemoth which is London's flagship Topshop store in Oxford Street  this weekend to pick up a couple of bits and pieces I've been coveting recently. As wondrous as the contents of the shop are, it generally it takes a hell of a lot to persuade me to go in as I have such little tolerance for the amount of mayhem, noise, marauding teens and often awful lackadaisical service it provides. But, I happened to be in the area early on Saturday morning so I performed a surgical strike and nipped in to get pair of these black suede and rose gold Helena sandals which I've had my eye on for a while (the pictures not doing them justice) and I also couldn't resist picking up this lovely faded pink woven bag, in lovely squishy leather.

drink more gin

Image
Apparently its International Gin day today! Quite pleased to hear about this unexpected festival so I shall be celebrating by fixing myself up a traditional G&T, with ice and a slice. I'm also considering getting one of these posters by the charmingly monikered  Robert Rubbish . Available from a little bit of art  if you so please.

hung up? interesting wall displays

Image
As part of the very slow overhaul of my home I've been thinking about more ways of adding interest to my walls other than the burgeoning number of prints and photographs I've been collecting. Here are a few ideas I'm thinking about using.. Love the way these vintage plates have been hung in a a little cloud formation. I think the addition of the branches on the table almost gives the impression of it being a tree sprouting fine china! If I could free up a clear wall in my teensy kitchen I'd love to do something similar.  image alvhem My entrance hallway gets very little light so I'm going to start collecting little mismatching mirrors to hang which will hopefully bounce a bit more brightness through the area, and also handily provide a place to give my self a quick once over before leaving the house! Really like the silver platters displayed on the rough brick walls at the restaurant in boundary hotel in east London, the uneven reflective surface

{coveting} jewellery by arosha

I'm bowled over by these exquisite rings designed by Italian designer Arosha Luigi Taglia. having done a little digging it seems Arosha's a multi-discipline designer with lines in art, sculpture and interior products as well as making beautiful baubles like this. His work's available through his etsy shop and further information about his other work at his website .

flutter by.. butterfly art by Joseph Warren

Image
Thes e lovely butterfly studies caught my eye yesterday over on mydeco . C reated by artist J oseph W arren using vintage maps, geological surveys and even lunar charts. They appeal to me as I'm not keen on the idea of keeping real butterflies in cases and I really like themes linked to travel and exploration in artwork. There's a nice little interview with Joseph on the mydeco blog here . The originals are quite expensive at £500 a piece over at image surgery which prices me out of owning one for myself, but I do like the idea of collecting some vintage maps and experimenting with creating a little set of my own.
