think pink: a candy coloured home

Image
Until very recently I had a pink bedroom. I'm 31 years old. Ok, so it wasn't a sickly kids pink, more of a rich deep fuchsia (Dulux Russian Velvet to be exact) which looked vibrant and spicy in the summer light, but also warm and enveloping during the winter. Only one of my walls was pink, offset with white on all the others and a bright fuchsia Moroccan pouffe in terms of pink accessories. Thinking about it don't think I even own a single piece of pink clothing apart from lingerie, so I'm not exactly in Barbara Cartland territory when it comes to being a fan of the girliest of colours. But nevertheless, I really do like pink. As I'm in the midst of doing a complete refresh of my entire home I decided (with a heavy heart) to finally let go of the colour I'd been living with rather happily for a very long time, and I now have fresh neutral walls which I'm slowly cluttering up with art work and other decorations, but you know I still kinda miss my pink wall

Just discovered these lovely air mail themed accessories by Paper Plane. I can't seem to find a dedicated website for the company but goodies like this envelope purse and 'something for the weekend' travel bag are available pretty widely on line in the UK. I've ordered myself change purse from the gifted penguin .

bathroom edition: light, bright & glamorous

Let me tell you about the state of my bathroom until a week ago. My flat was built in 1954, and the bathroom more or less unchanged since bore many scars of many decades of use. Cramped design, chipped enamel, pathetic water pressure, permanently dirty grout, tangled visible pipework, in a word - hideous. Of course over the years we've tried various things to update the place, tiles, flooring, a lick of paint here and there, jaunty accessories -all very well but frankly not cutting the mustard. So after several years of scrimping and saving, a great deal of mind numbing research and interviewing various builders I'm currently in the dusty midst of a big old renovation job, ripping out and replacing everything. I won't pretend its all going perfectly to plan as anyone who's entered into any type of job like this knows that's simply not the way things roll. But, fingers crossed by the end of the week I should have sparkling new bathroom so I thought I'd share a se

Spotted over at home shopping spy designer look but budget priced modern toile wallpaper called ‘La Vie Ordinaire’ by B&Q not usually known for quirky home ware. I'm not usually a fan of wallpaper as I find it too fussy, but I love the little London, Paris and New York scenes, complete with yellow taxis, bulldogs and poodles!

etsy love {dear coleen}

I was very happy to be sent a link to Dear Coleen's etsy shop this week. Coleen's a Brit, based currently in New Zealand who also has a rather lovely looking blog here . I absolutely love her simple graphic prints and zingy colours. I suspect 'I would rather have champagne than real pain' might be next in line to grace one of my walls, says it all for me!

get off of my cloud {chair}

Shh don't tell anyone but I love a nap on the sofa. I've spent quite a lot of time napping on the sofa recently due to that horrid lurgy chest infection I came down with and as a result was temporarily suffering for from slightly cranky back, but I'm convinced that if I'd had my very own cloud chair by Swedish designer Lisa Widen to doze in I would have recovered loads faster. I can't quite work out how from the photo, but it slides to adjust to whoever's using it regardless of size or length, and the curve of of the cushioning is designed to support the lower back. Re gardless of all of that stuff, I'm just in love with the look of it, I can imagine many a lovely dreamy nap on it.... Z zzzzzz ..... discovered via designspirationsk

seven random things - the versatile blogger award

Image
via here Hello world. It feels like ages ago, but I mentioned a while back that the very kind Erin from Dropped Stitches awarded me the Versatile Blogger Award which I was very pleased to receive, and as is customary with these awards I promised a random facts post, so here it is... 1. I don't really like macaroons, but sometimes I go to Laduree in Burlington Arcade off of Piccadilly to have a praline millefeuille and a cup of earl grey for lunch with my friend A. 2. I've been to Australia twice but never visited Sydney. Seems a bit silly but I simply wasn't motivated to go there, I had precious little time and money and I was chiefly there to visit one of my best friends so instead I explored Melbourne and drove along the long winding Great Ocean Road on the south coast instead, stayed in amazing beach front houses in little surfing towns and explored the temperate rain forest. Twice. 3. I went to an all girls high school. which had 3 all boys schools wit
