Eating London: an xmas ritual at bob bob ricard

I have a little Christmas tradition with one of my best friends. Instead of trading gifts each year we set aside a day to spend together hanging out, eating, drinking, window shopping (OK maybe a bit of actual shopping too) and generally gadding about being a bit silly. Life has been busy and stressful for both of us recently and we haven't been able to see much of each other at all, so it was extremely restorative to spend a decent amount of time together recently. Emails and phone conversations just aren't the same as some proper face time with your best mate right? Of course adding tea, cakes and cocktails to the equation always help things along nicely too. If you live in London or are planning to visit I'd recommend stopping by Bob Bob Ricard if only for a drink to marvel at it's rather fabulous 30s inspired interior. You can't help but feel glamorous tucked into one of the dining room booths, trying hard to stop yourself from repeatedly jabbi...

Apparently its International Gin day today! Quite pleased to hear about this unexpected festival so I shall be celebrating by fixing myself up a traditional G&T, with ice and a slice. I'm also considering getting one of these posters by the charmingly monikered  Robert Rubbish . Available from a little bit of art  if you so please.

I have thing for tiny little bars and restaurants. Some of the best places I've visited on my travels and my favourite regular haunts in London are more or less standing room only. I don't know why but I love being jammed into cosy bustling rooms with a handful of people enjoying yummy eats and drinks and swapping banter with staff and patrons alike. I had a lovely day last week for my birthday discovering a new favourite little place and revisiting an old gem. After a quick turn around the shops a friend and I dropped in to Polpo on Beak Street for a bite of lunch, I'd heard some vague rumblings that it did good stuff, and as we happened to stumble upon it we decided to pop in and I'm soo pleased we did. Polpo specialises in small northern Italian dishes, the kind of place where you can order a bunch of plates between friends to happily munch away over a couple of glasses of wine and a gossip. We managed to work our way through small plates of white b...

image via plush palatte Hello world. How have you been? So I've had kind of had a rough time of it for the past few weeks and have been hiding away and brooding hence the radio silence, but its my birthday today *yay me* so I'm making a resolution to stick a smile back on my face and face the world again. A slick of eye-liner, a couple of glasses of champagne and some very good friends make my world a better place to live in. Hope everyone has a wonderful day x x x
