attack of the 50 foot kitty

Image
Hiro , one of my recent feline additions to the family has been growing at a rate of knots, he's already nearly five kilos at just five months old and been nicknamed 'pony-cat' due to his size and habit of galloping round the house. He's pretty much out grown his kitten sized scratching posts now, so I was having a look online earlier for something a bit sturdier to withstand his heft when I came across this amazing  Cats Attack Scratch Post , a cardboard city which even has a little dangling helicopter toy so your kitty can do his best Godzilla impression and have a go at destroying skyscrapers instead of your furniture! Both my cats seem to love gnawing on cardboard, and I have a feeling they'd enjoy reducing this city to rubble so I might pop this in the shopping basket too whilst looking for a more traditional tower post. Just a bit frustrated at the lack of well designed and aesthetically pleasing cat furniture available which doesn't cost a bomb. Ins

a break

I've been away in a pretty little seaside town for what I hoped would be a relaxing weekend with friends but for various reasons turned out to be less so. Unfortunately you can't always enforce serenity just because you're on holiday, but I do find watching the sea is always quite a meditative experience so here's a quick snap I took as a sliver of blue sky snuck through the gloomy clouds which were lurking about for most of the weekend.

true blue

via jak & jil Double denim with cut out shoulders? This should be wrong but what a pretty thing. Digging her tousled bob, and really digging her tan Mulberry Alexa and belt against the faded blue of her shorts and shirt. That's all.

dreamy bedroom at peacock pavillions

Images via Designamour & My Marrakesh I'm constantly day dreaming about running away to exotic climes and one of them for me is Marrakesh. I wrote previously about having a  heavenly spa experience at Les bains de Marrakesh , and next time I'm Morocco bound, I'd love to stay at Peacock Pavilions  which is run by blogger extraordinaire Maryam, and her architect husband Chris. I've been following Maryam's blog My Marrakesh for several years as the couple designed, built and exquisitely furnished their guest house set amongst olive groves just outside the Medina of city. This black and gold beauty of a room is one of many features Maryam designed along with decorative stencil specialists Modello Designs . Inspired originally by a beautiful art deco screen Maryam had saved a clipping of in her inspiration files, I'm absolutely in love with it. You can read about the design and application of the pattern over here at Designamour. Right, back to my day

bathroom edition 2: dream details

Image
When I posted earlier this week about  light bright and glamorous bathrooms I had only the shell of a room for myself, a working toilet, raw walls, pipes sticking out at odd angles and an awful lot of tools lying around. Today as I type my builders are up against the umpteenth and final deadline set for completion and I simply cannot wait to have my home back from the endless dust, noise and headaches the whole process has caused. So fingers crossed I'll be able to share pictures of the finished product pretty soon, but in the mean time here are some more inspiring images which I collected during the course of my research for the renovation. This time around  it's about those extra details which take a room from so so to wow. 1. I can only dream of having the kind of budget which would allow such a wild use of mosaic tile, I'm a big fan on monochrome schemes at home anyway but the scattered black and white tile offset with citrus towels held within a lovely shaped arc
