postcards from under the duvet

Hii I'm having a pity party...all welcome, bring your own tissues and Nurofen. I'm in the middle of yet another cold/flu thing which has annoyingly wiped me out completely this weekend, I seem to be coming down with some type of lurgy or other on a monthly basis recently and it's really winding me up. It seems the more I do to try and stay healthy, the more bugs I pick up along the way. Since the last almighty bout of bronchitis I had not more than a month ago, I've scaled way back on drinking alcohol, have been stuffing myself full of vitamins every morning and extra green veg with meals (I even put broccoli on a homemade pizza the other day), have been getting plenty of sleep and even actually exercising fairly regularly. What do I get in return? A chapped nose, a head full of cotton wool, a deathly pallor and a wheeze like Mutley. The only real benefit to having been horizontal for most of the weekend is that I've been able to watch lots of films. Cha

grey velvety sofas

More of my grey obsession, this time at home... I have a very large, comfortable and remarkably hardy sofa which was bought from a Habitat sale about ten years ago. Frustratingly it still has a fair bit of life left in it, but I'm sort of at the point of wishing it would hurry up and die. As much as I love it to this day, I could do with replacing it with something a bit smaller as it takes up a lot of space in my living room. However I have a principle at home of not replacing things until they are basically un-serviceable, and that means for now - it stays. In the mean time I was thinking of having some new covers made for it, as both sets of cream cotton and pale green velvet covers have seen better days now, and you guessed it - grey is the colour I'm opting for. Just slightly torn between the idea of sumptuous glowing dove grey or a more masculine deep charcoal. At the end of the day it'll have to stand up to the usual household wear and tear for at least a

brilliant ebay find

I was admiring my friend L's homemade necklace the other day. She'd found a beautiful pair of vintage pocket watch keys in a charity shop and threaded them onto a long chain to make a pretty and unusual pendant. I thought I'd have a little look around Ebay to see if I might find any equally pretty keys for a similar project when I stumbled across, and promptly bought this beautiful (and working!) fob watch necklace by Fallen Angel .  They specialise in creating vintage inspired hand made jewellery and seem to have a bit of an obsession with Alice in Wonderland themed necklaces. I must admit I never really think to look for jewellery on Ebay, I tend to go to Etsy if I'm looking for something handmade or quirky, but judging by how many of Fallen Angel's pieces I've earmarked for possible Christmas gifts, clearly I might have been missing a trick.

Just how beautiful is this print? Spotted in Lonny and tracked down by Moodboard , Catherine Parr is a British born artist based in LA. Silveridge Studio her Etsy shop is chock full of lovely fashion illustrations in glorious radiant watercolour. Now, where's my credit card....?

coppola, vuitton, joy

I'm blaming Claire from Lola is beauty for alerting me to the existence of Sofia Coppola's second collection of SC bags for Louis Vuitton. Heaven, unaffordable, buttery, suedey, swingy heaven. She's got the perfect balance of luxe materials minus any clanging *designer* logo down. Lovely tidy size but capricious enough for the essentials - just the perfect take anywhere bag. As much as I appreciate LV's classic status I've never been very keen on their traditional monogrammed handbags as there are too many knock offs walking the streets, these clean, simple bags are the perfect antidote.
