This is not my car. When I was 17 years old my father bought me a provisional driving licence and gave me £50 towards getting some driving lessons. I shoved the licence in a drawer, palmed the cash and high tailed to Miss Selfridge to procure the loftiest platform boots I could find* and several varieties of iridescent space dust eye-shadow. You see I've never really had much interest in driving. I don't like the responsibility that comes with wielding a chunk of potentially lethal metal about, I'm not convinced my concentration levels are sharp enough to constantly look out for all of the lunatic drivers who seem to populate the roads and I could never see the point in spending immense amounts of cash on everything it takes to run a motor when I can walk, jump on a train or bus and be wherever I want very easily, with the added benefit of being environmentally friendly. People who love driving always go on about the freedom to be out on the open road...yada yada. M...

I barrelled into Muji today to get a new notebook for work and sort of fell in love with this patchwork bulldog which is part of their Christmas collection (that time of the years again already?). Each one is made from a mixture of factory offcuts of tweeds and plaids so I'm guessing it's unlikely you'll come across two exactly the same. Love his little grumpy face- I have such a thing for grumpy looking animals.  They also have patchwork sausage dogs , and stripy cats made from reused yarn - For under £20 I think they'd make nice Xmas gifts, everyone needs a pet right?

no words

Image
Phew, I'm so busy I just can't seem to get the words out at the moment so instead I thought I'd post up some recent iPhone pictures.  1. Beautiful enormous Cathedral door in Lisbon, Portugal. 3. Nutty, golden sugar encrusted Praline Millefeuille a Laduree . 4.Missy taking a nap on my gloriously tacky leopard bedding from H&M Home . 5. Have no idea where I snapped this sunset but lovely no?  6. Snob restaurant in Lisbon, if you're ever in the vicinity go - a glamorous old school place which has been run for the past 40 years by the same charming pair of brothers who really put the gent into gentlemen.

postcards from under the duvet

Hii I'm having a pity party...all welcome, bring your own tissues and Nurofen. I'm in the middle of yet another cold/flu thing which has annoyingly wiped me out completely this weekend, I seem to be coming down with some type of lurgy or other on a monthly basis recently and it's really winding me up. It seems the more I do to try and stay healthy, the more bugs I pick up along the way. Since the last almighty bout of bronchitis I had not more than a month ago, I've scaled way back on drinking alcohol, have been stuffing myself full of vitamins every morning and extra green veg with meals (I even put broccoli on a homemade pizza the other day), have been getting plenty of sleep and even actually exercising fairly regularly. What do I get in return? A chapped nose, a head full of cotton wool, a deathly pallor and a wheeze like Mutley. The only real benefit to having been horizontal for most of the weekend is that I've been able to watch...

grey velvety sofas

Image
More of my grey obsession, this time at home... I have a very large, comfortable and remarkably hardy sofa which was bought from a Habitat sale about ten years ago. Frustratingly it still has a fair bit of life left in it, but I'm sort of at the point of wishing it would hurry up and die. As much as I love it to this day, I could do with replacing it with something a bit smaller as it takes up a lot of space in my living room. However I have a principle at home of not replacing things until they are basically un-serviceable, and that means for now - it stays. In the mean time I was thinking of having some new covers made for it, as both sets of cream cotton and pale green velvet covers have seen better days now, and you guessed it - grey is the colour I'm opting for. Just slightly torn between the idea of sumptuous glowing dove grey or a more masculine deep charcoal. At the end of the day it'll have to stand up to the usual household wear and tear for at ...

brilliant ebay find

Image
I was admiring my friend L's homemade necklace the other day. She'd found a beautiful pair of vintage pocket watch keys in a charity shop and threaded them onto a long chain to make a pretty and unusual pendant. I thought I'd have a little look around Ebay to see if I might find any equally pretty keys for a similar project when I stumbled across, and promptly bought this beautiful (and working!) fob watch necklace by Fallen Angel .  They specialise in creating vintage inspired hand made jewellery and seem to have a bit of an obsession with Alice in Wonderland themed necklaces. I must admit I never really think to look for jewellery on Ebay, I tend to go to Etsy if I'm looking for something handmade or quirky, but judging by how many of Fallen Angel's pieces I've earmarked for possible Christmas gifts, clearly I might have been missing a trick.
